Joey Cramer – Flight of the Navigator

Flight of the Navigator

Joey Cramer (full name: Deleriyes August Joe Fisher Cramer) is known for his role as David Freeman in Disney’s Flight of the Navigator which was released in 1986. The plot of this movie is, in 1978, a 12-year-old boy, David Freeman aka Joey Cramer, along with his dog Bruiser, goes into the woods to find his younger brother, played by Albie Whitaker as 8-year-old Jeff Freeman. Matt Adler plays 16-year-old Jeff Freeman. Jeff jumps out from behind a tree and scares David. Jeff runs back home as David follows Bruiser to find out at what the dog is barking. The dog appears to be barking at nothing so David leans over the ravine and falls into it, blacking out. He is sent eight years into the future to 1986, where everyone aged except for David, as he remained a 12-year-old boy. He was kidnapped by aliens from the planet Phaelon and was programmed with star charts which hadn’t been recorded at that time. The space ship he needs to guide back to Phaelon crashed into power poles in Florida, where David lives. You’ll need to watch the rest of the movie to find out what happens in the end.

At 17-years-old, Joey moved to Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada. Per the store’s management, from 2006 to 2007, Joey worked at Trail Bay Source for Sports in Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada. He left to pursue other opportunities, and, for now, the Facebook administrator for Trail Bay Source for Sports’ fan page said they don’t know what he’s doing now.

I do have a bit of bad news for Joey Cramer fans. He was arrested several times, starting in 2005. The charges against him are at https://eservice.ag.gov.bc.ca/. You must use his legal first name Deleriyes and his legal last name Cramer in the search fields. Per his most recent arrest records, the location for his most recent tangle with the law (February, 2013) was in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, which is 35 minutes away from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. That incident was drinking liquor in public which is similar to having an open container of alcohol in the United States of America. The Canadian police gave Joey a violation ticket, and the case was closed. He is not in jail but is on probation stemming from previous charges of check fraud, careless use of a firearm, and threats of physical harm to others. He did spend some time in jail for some of the charges.

His filmography includes Runaway (1984), Flight of the Navigator (1986), The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986), Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color (1986), Stone Fox (1987), and It’s My Party (1996). Joey was uncredited in the movie It’s My Party which was directed by Randal Kleiser who directed Joey in The Flight of the Navigator as well. In 1986, he also appeared in two episodes of Murder, She Wrote in the episodes entitled Death Stalks the Big Top: Part 1 and Death Stalks the Big Top: Part 2. Joey was born on August 23, 1973 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Many believe this is Joey in It’s My Party:

In fact, this is Felix Pire, and Felix plays Soli Real, a Brazilian performance artist, in It’s My Party.

The following picture is of Joey Cramer from 2006 or 2007 so he was 33- or 34-years-old in this picture:

I am still seeking information about what Joey Cramer is currently doing in Canada. If anyone has any current information about him, please comment on this post or contact me at ericaleighwhite@yahoo.com. I will research the information further so please provide correct information. Thank you.

From here on out, this blog will only report positive news about Joey Cramer because we all fall down. No one is perfect but we can all get back on our feet again and make life happy. I know this to be true from personal experience, and, from that personal experience, I believe the following quotes to be true:

“You were sick, but now you’re well again, and there’s work to do.”
— Kurt Vonnegut

“I know we never get over our losses; we absorb them, and they can carve us into different, often kinder, creatures.”
— Gail Caldwell

“Recovery feels like shit. It didn’t feel like I was doing something good; it felt like I was giving up. It feels like having to learn how to walk all over again.”
— Portia de Rossi

“It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.”
— Zig Ziglar

“I swear that my problems and failures will not define me, nor will they dictate who I am; that I will continue to be my own person; that life is too short, and I will live every day as the best person I can be; that I will grow and that I will change; that I will smile and hold my head high; that this is a new start and a new day; that I will allow myself to cry or sit by myself when I need to; [and] that I will find things to really smile about.”
— Stephen Emond

If Joey has checked out this blog, as a few people from Canada have checked it out, I hope you know I picked these quotes from personal experience, and they were meant to be heartfelt as they helped me overcome. Work at achieving your own personal happiness. Be your own person. Free and repair your spirit. May peace, love, and happiness be placed in your life. I know, I sound like a hippy but I prefer the term free spirit!

August 23, 2013 is Joey’s 40th birthday. I wish him the best birthday, and, hopefully, today is a fresh new beginning for him. Sadly, on September 7th, 2013, Joey was arrested for a parole violation. Then, on September 12th, Joey made an appearance in the Port Coquitlam Provincial Court (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada) due to the parole violation arrest. What this means is, if he’s found guilty, he could either spend two years in a Canadian jail or, on a summary conviction, pay a fine of $2,000 and spend 18 months in a Canadian jail. His bail was set at $500. Joey is not in custody so he paid his bail, and the court released him. Joey appeared in court on November 14th, 2013 for sentencing and received 60 days in jail for violating his probationary terms. On January 27th, 2014, Joey will have another court date to determine terms of his release from jail after his 60-day sentence for probation violation(s).

I credit imdb.com, https://eservice.ag.gov.bc.ca/, and Trail Bay Source for Sports for the information I provided in this blog.

  2. Just watched Flight of the Navigator… wondered what happened to Joey. Sad to hear he had problems. Hope he’s in a better place / state of mind soon.

  3. Do you think there is a way someone can get in contact with him.

I’m pretty sure he could be helped by getting him to do some appearances at a comic con or convention.

    I hope someone helps him.

    • The only person I could think is Randal Kleiser as he helped cast Joey in his movie “It’s My Party.” Personally, I have no available contact information for him. I hope he gets back on the correct track.

  4. Yeah it is a great movie Flight of the Navigator, Shame he is where he is, but we all fall indeed, from time to time which allows us to learn and grow, hopefully Joey does learn and grow from his experiences, it would be great if he got back on track and done a Flight of the Navigator 2 – Max returns … set 30 years later… with Joey a lot older with kids of his own… one can only hope.. hope you find out how he is fairing…
    cheers.

  5. Flight of the Navigator – best film of my youth. I hope, Joey will find the way out of his Today to real Tommorow. Have good luck and know we love you, little navigator!

  6. Saw this movie for the first time flight of navigator. I had to look Joey up and wow what a kick in the gut. I thought I would find a long list of credits. I will be praying for him for I know we all could use Gods help.

  7. Flight of the Navigator!! One of my favourite childhood movies!! Compliance!
I heard from somebody that they may consider doing a remake of it and it broke my heart. Too many movies are being remade and this one doesn’t need to be touched at all!! A sequel could be cool but no remake please!! Flying out to Vancouver this summer…. who knows maybe I’ll bump in to Joey! That would make my year!

  8. Wow!! And here I thought he was directing or writing books or something. A fall from grace story. Flight of the Navigator is still one of my all time favz. To Joey Cramer, I wish to say… Thanks. And remember when you fall, just simply dust yourself off and keep on walking.

  9. You are loved by many for the happiness and comfort you brought to so many lives as young children and later as adults. I am one of those people and thank you and hope you have happiness and good health always!!!
